Iván Vargas was born in the Sacromonte, in the cave La Rocío to be precise, where he took his first steps at he hand of his family, the Mayas. He therefore belongs to the dynasty of great dancers among whom we find such names as Manolete, Juan Andrés Maya, Mario Maya, and of course, accompanied by Juan Maya “Marote”. While still a child he became known to a wide audience, participating in national television programmes such as Andrés Caparrós’ “Quédate con la llave” at the age of 4, “Lo que yo te cante” presented by Marifé de Triana, at the age of 8, along with Elena Chaves. “Hablando se entiende la basca”, “Quédate con la copla” and “El Trampolín.”
