Esta película (documental) Fue rodada en el año 1988 por una productora francesa con colaboración de una cadena de TV. Obtuvo el Premio Especial de la Crítica en el prestigioso Festival de la Rose d'Or de Montreux, fue emitido por cadenas de 43 países de 5 continentes. Canal Plus Francia compró luego los derecho y en Francia puede que haya sido emitida esta cinta más de 10 veces...

Se le propuso a todas las cadenas que existían en España entonces y la rechazaron. En CANAL SUR, dijeron que NO ENCAJABA EN LA PROGRAMACIÓN.... Ahora podéis comprobar, hasta qué punto nuestro Cabrero ha sido vetado durante toda su carrera. (Os imagináis que esta cinta fuera sobre cualquier otra de las figuras del cante?...

José Domingue Munoz, El Cabrero is the son and granson to goatherders. El Cabrero is one of the most important personalities of Flamenco and the most sought after figure in Flamenco Puro since 1980. From is debut, in 1972, El Cabrero performed at flamenco Festivals and solo concerts though always returning to tend the family’s herd that grazes the hills and valleys of his native Andalusia... He is also an eclectic singer ; as shown by the varied styles incorporated in this repertoire”. El Cabrero projects his own personality into his singing, he respects its primeval form. His voice, brilliant and rough at the same time, knows no falsetto ; it is a natural voice which breaks itself to reach the most inacessible of notes. His inspiration and originality make him a truly unique artist in the genre Flamenco Puro.

La Cañeta de Málaga y su grupo

Teresa Sanchez Campos, La Cañeta de Málaga, was born in El Perchel in 1943, and she is a singer who still performs the styles of her mother, La Pirula.

La Pirula, who was also born in the malagueña district of El Perchel in 1915, was an artiste who was responsible for the creation of the Tangos de Málaga, which at one time were also known as the Tangos del Perchel. She was an exceptional singer of the bulerias, soleares and the fandangos, but she died at the height of her career in 1948.

La Cañeta is the most dynamic Fiestera and her bulerias are lively and exciting, her live performances have a warm ambience and she immediately connects with her audience. Her style is fast and visual, and together with her husband she produces fast snapping rhythms that cut right through to the core.

She is a singer and dancer who started her career in Madrid in 1960, and who travelled the world with the dancer Antonio Gades.

She also formed part of the flamenco group, Los Vargas, along with artists such as La Repompa, El Carrete and Miguel de los Reyes, and has spent many years on the tablao circuit in Madrid. ...{continued here}

Juana Amaya!!!!!!!

Juana García Gómez, bailaora, más conocida en el mundo artístico del baile flamenco con el nombre de "Juana Amaya", nació en Morón de la Frontera (Sevilla), en el año de 1968. Nieta de Francisca Amaya Amaya, sobrina de la madre de Paco del Gastor, es discípula de Pepe Ríos e hizo pareja con su primo Ramón Barrull, con quien consiguió el premio por Bulerías de su ciudad natal en 1981. Al año siguiente interviene en la II Bienal de Sevilla, en el programa "El nuevo compás", y dos años después figura como primera bailarina en la compañía de Mario Maya, con quien hizo pareja en ¡Ay jondo! y El Amargo (1984). Hacia 1986 trabaja en el tablao Los Gallos, y dos años más tarde viaja por Europa con el concertista cordobés Paco Peña, compaginando estas giras con su presencia en los festivales flamencos andaluces. Tras su estancia en Madrid, donde entre 1989 y 1994 participa en la Cumbre Flamenca, en el espectáculo Estrellas de la Bienal (1991) y en un montaje junto a Joaquín Cortés y Antonio Canales (1993), regresa a Sevilla para impartir clases y montar compañía propia, a la que presentó en 1994 en el Teatro Trianón, de París, en el Festival Mont de Marsán. En 1996 es reclamada por Salvador Távora para protagonizar el papel de Carmen. Trabajó en Un gitano de ley de José Heredia Maya (1997) y en Fuerza Latina, de Antonio Canales (1999). En 2002 presentó en la Bienal el espectáculo Yo misma, con la cantaora Juana la del Revuelo. Es una de las bailaoras con más fuerza y carisma del presente del flamenco.

Pohren -an avid American flamenco enthusiast- to decide to buy a plot of land on the outskirts of this town to set up a kind of boardinghouse. Enthusiasts from all over the world visited this establishment, most of them American. 40 years ago today you left us DIEGO DEL GASTOR.

When we talk about the history of flamenco guitar inexorably must refer to Gastor. His flair and especially flamenco, took you to a special place that is difficult to leave. Those who have not had the luck of being able to listen live, we have the opportunity to make it through everything we left recorded a priceless treasure of incalculable value that generates and feeds this his art.

His name was DIEGO FLORES AMAYA and born in Arriate (Málaga) one March 27, 1908. What of Gastor (Cádiz) is because it was in that village where he grew up before moving to Moron de la Frontera, in the province of Seville, where he lived until the end of his days.

Diego del Gastor, who attended three years at the conservatory, was, in its beginnings, influenced by El Niño Ricardo, Ramón Montoya, and Pepe Naranjo, and when accompanying for singing, developing a kind of improvisation with guitar which motivated even the singers. He accompanied many of them and, today, this roll is pure and authentic flamenco history.

The best colaboration was developed with the unforgettable JOSELERO DE MORÓN (pictured above left with Gastor). Both flamencos were brothers, and more than brothers, what recordings that we have left, you can see and intuitive complicity and taste, truly exemplary. Diego also accompanied other singers of his time: Manolito María, Juan Talega, Fernandillo de Morón, Perrate de Utrera, Fernanda y Bernarda de Utrera, Rosalía de Triana, Antonio Mairena, Curro Mairena, José Menese.
