Antonio Gómez de los Reyes was born in Seville in 1961, the son and grandson of flamenco artists. He began his career at the Spanish National Ballet, where he soon became the company's solo dancer. He has starred as a guest artist with some of the world's top companies, and achieved worldwide fame. He has shared the stage with figures of the category of Nureyev, Peter Schaufuss, Sylvie Guillem and Julio Bocca. In 1992 he set up his own company, and appeared for the first time at the World Financial Center in New York to mark the Fifth Centenary of the Discovery of America. His show 'Torero' was nominated for an Emmy award in 1995.

Flamenco: Gypsy Soul

Writer Elizabeth Kinder embarks on a journey through Andalusia from Malaga to Cadiz to find the soul of flamenco, the beguiling mix of guitar, song and dance strongly associated with southern Spain's gypsies. Featuring performances from gypsy blacksmiths to goat herders, the documentary reveals a glimpse of a timeless way of life as it has been preserved down the centuries. The history of this mysterious music and its relationship to Spain is explored in chocolate box locations including Moron de la Frontera, Granada, Seville and Jerez and the programme also features rare archive of notable artists such as Camaron de la Isla and Diego Del Gastor.

María Dolores "Lola" Flores Ruiz (21 January 1923 – 16 May 1995) was a Spanish singer, dancer, and actress. Flores was born in Jerez de la Frontera, Cadiz (Andalusia, Spain) an icon of Andalusian folklore and Gitano culture. Lola Flores was not a gypsy herself and never self-identified as such, although she did acknowledge in one interview that she had been told that her maternal grandfather was of Romani extraction.  She became a famous dancer and singer of Andalusian folklore at a very young age, performing flamenco, copla or chotis and featured in films from 1939 to 1987. Her greatest success was in folklore shows with Manolo Caracol, who was her artistic partner until 1951.

“La Familla Campallo”

Rafael and Adela Campallo were born in the famous Sevillan quarter Cerro del Aguila, into a family with an extensive flamenco tradition. 

Adela soon became part of an ensemble founded by her parents, “La Familla Campallo”, and so she made her debut at a mere 9-year-old. She also was instructed by maestros such as Jose Galvan and Manolo Marin.

In 2004 then, the “Campalleria” show hit the stages. In this show, she shared the lead role with her brother Rafael Campallo, also a flamenco dancer. This production was also performed in Japan and at the Festival the Jerez of 2003. Shortly afterwards, Adela went solo. A performance at the Teatro Central in her hometown made her an absolute public favorite and lead to many positive press reviews.

Adela Campallo was also part of Javier Latorre’s company when they staged the piece “Rinconete y Cortadillo” in all major theatres of Spain. Afterwards, she collaborated with Farruquito in “Alma Vieja” and with Andres Marin in “Mas Alla del Tiempo”. Early 2006, she performed at the USA Flamenco Festival and at the Festival de Jerez, where she participated in the “Gala de Andalucia” show.

Since 2007, she is also the face of the well-known American audiovisual brand BOSE.
Only recently, she danced the lead role of the Greek tragicomedy MEDEA under the artistic guidance of Pilar Távora. The play was first performed in Greece, July 2007. Now in February 2009, she staged at the Festival de Jerez alongside of Juan Diego and Angel Muñoz and in July she was the special guest at the first performance of her brother Rafael Campallo’s show “Puente de Triana”, the last act of the flamenco festival at Mont-de-Marsan, France.

Rafael Campallo began his study of dance at the age of eleven with José Galván and later with Manolo Marín. He showed his talent quickly, performing solo or as guest artist in Spain and Japan at the age of 16.

His dance resume includes a long list of successful and critically-acclaimed performances, working with great flamenco artists such as María Pagés, Manuela Carrasco, Manuel Soler, José Antoni, and Juana Amaya. He has danced in many cities around the world. His dancing has been featured in a DVD entitled 'Rafael Campallo. Jóvenes maestros del baile flamenco’.

From the early days of his career, he has received much attention for the quality of his dancing. Critics have raved about his lightning-fast footwork, his musicality, his expressive choreography, and his stage presence.

Antonio Fernández Díaz 'Fosforito' (b. Puente Genil, Córdoba province, August 3, 1932), flamenco singer.

Before turning pro, his stage name was Antonio de Puente Genil, or Genil. "Fosforito" was also used by another singer, Francisco Motto "Fosforito" although no relation between them.

Fosforito made a brilliant debut in the National Competition of Cante Jondo, 1956, in Córdoba. It was the second competition after the first contest held in Granada in 1922, with the support of Manuel de Falla, Federico García Lorca, and other leaders of the Spanish Andalusian culture.

This time the young singer, 23, unknown except in his region, broke a record and proved to be a singer as deep as he was complete. Despite going to the competition after recovering from a condition in the voice, Fosforito swept the hundred contestants who came from all over Spain. He won the honor jury prize unanimously for (siguiriya, martinete, and saeta) the first prize in each section of song. He was then signed by Philips, where he recorded his first records, and is the author of most of the songs. Currently, he has published more than 26 albums of all styles and variants of flamenco.

LUIS PERDIGUERO - Nadie sabe las palabras

Antequera Malagueño singer, one of the most outstanding young artists from the province of Malaga. Luis Perdiguero is no stranger to the world of singing,  born in Malaga, his roots come from Jerez flamenco and the family of the 'Paulera', grandson of Tía Anica 'La Piriñaca' one of the most iconic women in the history of flamenco. Perdiguero began singing flamenco in public at age five at the Festival de Ronda, a tribute to Juan Orillo, brother of Alonso Núñez 'Rancapino', whose past tributes included Camarón de la Isla, Chano Lobato, Juanito Villar, Juana la del Pipa and Fernanda and Bernarda de Utrera.

In 2007, Perdiguero presented his album "Vente tú Conmigo" edited by Cambaya/Karonte with the cooperation of the City of Antequera. This album has had the collaboration of artists from Jerez such as Moraito on guitar, Luis El Zambo singing, El Bo and El Chicharo doing palms and Joaquín Grilo dancing.
